All library branches of the Calcasieu Parish Public Library system have public PCs available for use by library card holders in good standing. Users login to the PC using their library card and PIN number for 1 hour sessions, with a daily limit of 2 sessions. The PCs include internet access, Microsoft Office 2007, and plug-ins for Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash and Java that are updated quarterly. Users must agree to the Electronic Use Policy to access the PCs.
The Calcasieu Parish Public Library now has laptop computers to check out to library card holders. The laptops, housed at the Central (721-7116) and Sulphur Regional Libraries (721-7141), are provided to Calcasieu Parish by the State Library of Louisiana as part of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program of the Department of Commerce.
Microsoft Office 2007 is installed plus Adobe Acrobat Reader, QuickTime Viewer, Shockwave, a Video Launcher, Flash Media Player and a CD Burner are installed on each laptop. They are internet ready so citizens can take them to any hot spot to access the internet.

Libraries Southwest (LSW) is a service that links the parish libraries of Southwest Louisiana together in order to provide better service to patrons.
An LSW library card enables patrons to utilize library services and check out materials from any of these six parishes: Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, and Vernon.

Patrons with a valid phone number and/or email address in their library account receive scheduled auto-generated pre-overdue, overdue, hold and bill notices. With the Library Elf service, patrons receive pre-overdue, overdue and hold notices via email and text messaging.
Hint: Library Elf is a help to those needing to manage multiple library cards.

Users may login to the WiFi network using their library card and PIN numbers between 8:00 am and 10 pm daily.
