Online Magazines Now Available from the Library

There is a new way to read magazines – on your smart phone, computer, iPad or other reading device. The Calcasieu Parish Public Library has purchased Zinio subscriptions to 160 online magazines and hopes to enlarge the collection in the future. Many of the popular magazines that the library has stocked on their shelves for years are now also available in digital format. The service is FREE to library card holders.

Signing up to read cover-to-cover content on your reading device is very easy. Under the Resources tab, select “magazines” to find the Zinio online magazines. By creating an account with your library card number and an email address, you will have free access to each issue of the magazines that you choose. The online magazines are full content, so you miss nothing that is in the print copy.

If you miss those magazines that are going out of print, like Newsweek, you can still read them online with your library account.

After establishing an account and choosing titles at the library website, library users may read Zinio magazines on a variety of apps available for mobile devices. Select the device that best suits your needs to download your free app: PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire and Blackberry Playbook.

The full color pages are beautiful on the screen, and some magazines even have video content!
