We're excited to announce a gradual reopening of its physical locations and a measured introduction of programs and services that were put on pause as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis. Your safety is our number one priority! Please be patient while we implement new guidelines to keep everyone safe and healthy.

  • Services and hours are subject to change throughout the re-opening phase. 
  • For our safety and the safety of others, we are not currently accepting donationsPlease do not leave materials outside the building.
  • We're following CDC guidelines, as well as procedures from the Police Jury on how to keep our community members safe. Those include a five day quarantine of all returned items, the installation of sneeze guards at all service desks, the recommend use of EPA-registered household disinfectants to clean all surfaces, rearrangement of library furniture to allow for appropriate space for proper social distancing, outside seating where possible, the use of alcohol-based wipes or sprays for electronics, and more.

Monday, May 18th

  • Book drops at all of our branches will be open and available to take most of your returns!
    • Accepted items: Books, ILL materials, magazines, DVDs, Blurays, audiobooks, CDs, and games.
    • Please keep the following items until further notice. 
      • Laptops, hotspots, iPads, American Girl dolls, and sensory backpacks, cake pans, or any other item that does not normally return in book drop..
    • If you cannot make it to a book drop, due dates will continue to be extended until the library branches are open completely.

All returned items will be quarantined for five (5) days to adequately eliminate all germs on surfaces.


 Calcasieu Parish Public Library Summer Reading Program

Read and log books between May 22nd and July 31st.

This year, it's a VIRTUAL Summer Reading program 
All books will be recorded online.
Children (babies - 5th grade): read/record 10 books.
Teens (students going into 6-12 grade): read/record 3 books.
Adults (18 yrs+):
read/record 3 books.
